We’ve chosen London as our city, and London has chosen us. We’ve completely fallen in love with this city, and every single day, we love this place a little more. So we decided to share with you our top 5 reasons why we love London.
You’re bound to find new stuff to do anywhere you look. You can live in London your whole life and still feel like a tourist. And that’s a good thing. You can visit a lot of historical and iconic sights and buildings without paying a penny. Visiting the British Museum or the National History Museum will take at least a few days, and while walking around the city you can catch a glimpse of Tower Bridge, the Tower of London, The Houses of Parliament & Elizabeth Tower (Big Ben), and the Canary Wharf skyline. You’ll never run out of iconic buildings to see.
London has so many concerts in one night, that we advise you to not look them up as it would be hard to choose from your favourites! From street musicians to sold out arena concerts, music is an important part of London identity. And of course it is - so many world famous artists started their career in the City, like David Bowie, Elton John, Pink Floyd, Led Zeppelin. The love of music extends to the numerous London musicals who feature the careers of amazing artists, such as Michael Jackson, Tina Turner and Meatloaf.
If you’re a lover of art, London is full of it. The National Gallery, Tate Britain and V&A Museum are only a few that offer permanent exhibitions with classic paintings and sculptures. For an insight into how the world works, the Science Museum (our personal favourite) and Design Museum are amazing museums that offer a glimpse into how the modern world was built. All these offer temporary exhibitions as well, so you’ll never see everything that is to see in this city.
An interesting insight into the future of arts is offered by university degree shows, which are usually free to attend and open to anyone.
You can’t make a list about what makes London amazing and not mention the wide range of cuisines available. From classic Far Eastern restaurants in Chinatown, to curry places on Brick Lane, and from Caribbean classics in Camden to American diners everywhere, you can find and experience all corners of the world through food. If you can think of it, you can probably find it. There’s even a cereal restaurant called “Cereal Killer”!
London is known for its eclectic fashion from street style to high end fashion weeks and we love it all. London embraces what it is to be unique in your own style with certainly speaks to us. Next time you are doing anything in London take some time out to people watch, you never know what you’ll see or who will inspire you.
